Is Your Juice GMO Free?

Sticking to a healthy diet typically revolves around eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, but how do you know if your produce is up to par? Paul Gregg, Executive Vice President of Raw Foods International, LLC, explains that an influx of product terminology may confuse consumers as to what they are really consuming.

“There is a plethora of products in the food industry that are comprised of genetically-modified organisms,” says Gregg. “Genetic engineering was originally used as an alternative to pesticides, among other things. However these altered products are a departure from the natural fruits and vegetables we know and love; if pests won’t go near the produce, why should humans?”

Gregg explains that food companies are not required to inform customers if their products contain GMOs. “To ensure a product is 100 percent all natural, the labeling should list that it is non-GMO verified,” says Gregg. “Many juices on the market claim to be ‘all natural’ but in reality, they aren’t approved for a non-GMO label. Even organic foods have been found to contain GMOs and that’s why it’s important that the shopper beware (for more information on organic GMOs, click here).” Gregg continues, “consuming non-GMO verified foods helps to protect your insides and after all, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. Just because a product is ‘all natural’ or ‘organic’ doesn’t mean that you are getting the very best. The non-GMO verification is the proverbial icing on the cake that makes a good product great.”

RAAW® Juices, fruit and vegetable juice blends from Raw Foods International, are one of the premier non-GMO juices on the market. Gregg adds that each concoction has thoughtfully been crafted with quality ingredients so that consumers can truly taste the difference. “Not only do our flavors strike the perfect balance between sweet and savory, but you can also rest easy knowing that our product is 100 percent natural.”
